Jacob Getz Amanda James Trend Research Assignment Adoption of newer technology by older generations The trend in which we have identified is the adoption of newer technology by older  generations, not only to stay current, but also to aid them in their everyday lives. This trend  includes entertainment with the iPod; cellular phones with the iPhone; networking with  Facebook; and mental health with live-in technology. The trend seems to be exploding with  middle age to elderly citizens across the country. “Each year, more and more seniors are  adopting and embracing technology to enrich their daily lives,” (All Assisted). Technology is  bringing a whole new world to these people learning how useful, yet entertaining it truly is. This trend has influenced many businesses activities as current companies are working to  make the new technology friendly to all ages, not just teens. Companies are realizing that older  generations want to have these new gadgets as well, and are adapting them to suit every age. A  large amount of the American population are not teens, and companies such as Apple and Dell  are starting to realize their market is broadening. They have begun to create devices that are  suitable to all ages of the population. With a widening demographic of buyers, companies are  trying to keep up in order to excel and develop their businesses. The idea of technology being used by older generations has kick started many new  businesses. Entrepreneurs are taking advantage of the new technology trend, and the elderly that  are using it for many reasons. The elderly are using the iPhone, iPod, and computers, but they are also using all sorts of technology to be able to live in their homes longer. Businesses focusing on  in home safety and security technology are exploding with new ideas. These businesses are not

the only ones that are developing from this trend, but also businesses are being created that make phones and other devices geared directly for the elderly.  We have selected this trend after seeing it first hand in society, and even our own  families. It is fascinating that the elderly citizens that don’t know how to use a computer well,  can use an iPhone or iPod on a daily basis. Now in days, you can go to the grocery store or  shopping and see seventy, eighty year olds playing Angry Birds on their iPhones. These new  forms of technology have exploded into the market, and are not only attracting teens and young  adults, but now all ages.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
