Jacob Getz Professor Smith Expository Writing 102.15 November 29, 2011 Persuasive Essay – What Kind of Country Should the US be? Many people feel as though the United States of America is divided into classes that unfortunately cannot agree on living in harmony. These divided classes are the upper class versus the middle and lower class. Nowadays with the way the economy is, the upper class is the richest it has been since the early 1920s, where “42 percent of all financial wealth is controlled by the top 1 percent.” (Berlin, Loren. "Why Taxing the Rich Is Good for America." DailyFinance: Business News, Stock Quotes, Investment Advice . 24 Aug. 2011. Web. 25 Nov. 2011. < .) Unfortunately, many are still struggling at the depths of the current recession by having “37 million Americans on food stamps and many of them waiting until midnight of the last day of the month so checks can clear to buy food at Wal-Mart .” (DailyFinance) Americans feel as though it is the responsibility of congress to make a difference and change this high deficit; however, instead all that is increasing is the unemployment rate.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
