Getz 1 Jacob Getz Professor Smith December 6, 2011 Expository Writing Prevention of Eating Disorders Over the last couple of decades eating disorders have become more and more prevalent throughout society. Most noticeably, it leads back to Hollywood and the entertainment industry. Eating disorders are becoming more widespread not only throughout the United States but also throughout the world and they can be caused by a variety of factors. There are many treatments that can be used to prevent eating disorders such as: talking to a physician, developing a higher self-esteem, and finally becoming a critical viewer of the media and the messages it gives. The different types of eating disorders are as follows: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and many others. “The road to eating disorder recovery starts with admitting you have a problem” (Anonymous.
