Review for Exam 3 Tuesday, April 24, 2012 10:58 AM Max Weber's vision of bureaucracy o Society is increasingly rational (rationalization) - 3 main points Increase knowledge about technology (how social and physical things work) Expand domains of control - more knowledge you have about how stuff works, more you can control it Increase impersonality -authority Traditional - royalty - follow a leader they follow it b/c that's how things are done Charismatic - power of the individual - ppl attribute magical properties to a charismatic/see them as larger than life; MLK, Barack Obama Bureaucracy - rational leadership - formal laws/bureaucratic rules make you do things. This is an institution/formal organization -> NOT an individual Second view: Obama -> we also give respect to the position/office itself -> we give authority to the person. Can apply to Bush too ** recognize/understand these 3 in different scenario Holocaust timeline - don't need to know specific times. Just know the key

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
