The Legal Status of Agent #007 The legal status of agents Eve Moneypenny and James Bond are difficult to define whether they are employees or independent contractors due to the hidden nature of their work with MI6. The most important difference between an employee and an independent contractor is primarily the amount of control that the employer has over the actions of the individuals working under them. In the situation of Eve Moneypenny and James Bond, the characteristics of their work are difficult to define which makes determining their legal status a much more complicated task as opposed to workers with a clear job description. For example, a typically strong indicator of legal status is based on the nature of the work performed, work that is critical to business operations on a daily basis is likely to be an employee while work that is not always needed and

The easiest example of such a work environment is in a manufacturing plant, the difference between the manufacturing worker and the maintenance man that comes when the manufacturing line needs repairs every two years. However, when trying to apply these standards to Eve Moneypenny and James Bond it becomes more complicated because the public does not know the exact nature of their jobs. It is entirely possible that they both are only called upon for special missions that are seen in the movies, but it is equally likely that when they aren’t doing special missions they’re sitting in an office doing paperwork like everyone else. The confusion over specifics is what makes it difficult to create a concrete determination over their legal status working in MI6....
