“What is law?” (NFL edition) Rule 2, is the equivalent of law in the world of the National Football League and therefore must be treated as such, with the utmost seriousness. Although not an official law in the literal sense which is enacted by the government and protected by police, in the realm of sports such as the NFL rule 2 is a representation of one component that holds the game of American football together. Rules and laws are similar in that both are used in order to maintain order and equality while also delivering consistency among differing cases. They are designed for equal treatment regardless of the litigants and without them there would only be chaos since there would be no order and structure. Therefore, in the field of American football rule 2 is without question a law, and it must be treated and regarded with great importance. Strict punishment, commonly through spending extended amounts of time in jail or prison is enacted to temporarily or permanently eliminate a member of society while also allowing the law-breaker to reflect on their actions. In the NFL with regards of rule 2, teams should face similar penalties and sanctions against them through the use of suspension, substantial fines, and the elimination of past victories. Enacting penalties and sanctions that would actually cause NFL teams to feel substantial damage in reputation and performance from such action will serve as an active deterrent against unlawful behavior. Additionally it would create an even greater emphasis on the obedience of the law, which will further create a more equal and fair playing field and prevent any unfair advantage....
