Lauren Weatherall Professor Hayter RWS 200 10 April 2007 Analyzing the Relationship between Texts One of the major problems in our world today is the way people interact with one another. People have forgotten how importance of communication. English author, Mary Louise Pratt, in “The Arts of the Contact Zone” and Paulo Freire in “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education” explore the relationship between the subordinate and the dominate people when they interact with one another. These authors show us the negative effects our communication skills have on the way we interact with each other and the way we learn. Our lacks of communication skills are an ineffective way of successful communication which thus makes it difficult for people to convey their feelings to each other. Film writer Siriuslydead, in his film V for Vendetta further analyzes these effects that the parties have on each other and what happens when a person steps outside of their context zone in order to fight for their freedom. English author, Mary Louise Pratt, in her essay “The Arts of the Contact Zone”, explores a new concept of contact zone, " the space in which peoples geographically and historically separated come into contact with each other and establish relations, usually involving coercion, radical inequality, and intractable conflict"(527). Pratt in her piece talks about what happens when different cultures meet for the first time and the effects they have on the future. She further explains her idea of auto ethnography: the way in which subordinate peoples present themselves
