Live Better.” Wal-Mart’s new slogan clearly captures the company’s corporate attitude and vision: to provide the best possible prices to its customers. Instead of abusing its dominance as a retailer and inflating prices, Wal-Mart uses its power to create immense opportunities and advantages. By driving down prices, Wal-Mart protects lower income families from inflation. Currently, Wal-Mart is using its unrivaled influence in the American economy to lower the cost of health care by selling over three-hundred widely- prescribed generic drugs for as low as four dollars per one month supply (Barbaro, 2006). With these low costs, Wal-Mart may even influence its rival pharmacies to emulate its example. Additionally, wider availability of these drugs at lower costs could substantially reduce pressure on free clinics and America’s hospitals. More people with lower incomes will be able to afford
