POSC 411 Lanning Case Analysis 1 The conversation between Roy Morgan and Jim Robinson of Airstar, Inc. embodies the old leadership paradigm, they a focusing on stability, control, and uniformity, rather then change empowerment and diversity. Due to modernization, we live in a continuously changing world. As a result, there is a constant flooding of technological advancements, and economic shocks. The world we live in today is changing due competition, forcing organization to adapt and abandon the old paradigm of consistency and uniformity. As noted in the above discussion, Airstar faces several challenges including but not limited to: communication breakdowns, power and political struggles, production inefficiencies, waste, lack of organizational vision, goals, and emerging competition. A solution to these problems can b found by altering management and leadership techniques, or simply stated “out with the old and in with the new”. The meeting between Morgan and Robinson shows that there are more managers
