W e had always been told not to bother the old man down the block, but no explanation was ever given. So our little minds were allowed to wonder as to why 1576 North Archland Dr. was to be left alone. Was the man a child kidnapper? Would he take us into his house and keep us forever to do his chores? Or was he just grouchy and wanted to be left alone? We had no idea, but it provided us with hours of entertainment in the backyard. Christopher, my eight year old cousin, would usually provide the costumes. My older brother, Luke, was nine and so, without saying, was in charge. He would always come up with the scenarios and assign the parts. As the only girl and the youngest, being only six (and a half, as I would always insert), I would always have to do the least important roles and would have to run all the errands. But I did not mind because I got to play with the boys. First, we would imagine the old man as being around ninety with a crooked back and with is right eye winced. Luke, obviously, would always get to play this part. He would hobble
