Water: an important medium for metabolic of chemical reactions where molecules  interact with one another 2. Food: an important source of energy production, a process mainly occurred in the  mitochondria of cells 3. Oxygen: a chemical substance involved in energy release in the cells 4. Heat: a form of energy that helps in regulating the rate of metabolism  (definition of  metabolism);  (heat in form of ATP) 5. Pressure: another form of energy that helps in regulating certain physiological  processes, such as breathing mechanisms regulated by atmospheric and alveolar pressure  and circulation regulated by hydrostatic and osmolarity.
