functions to formulate and implement business policies and strategies to achieve organizational objectives; apply appropriate methodologies, concepts, and tools pertinent to strategic analyses and discuss implications of industry structure, organization resources and capabilities, business ethics and social responsibility, sustainability, and global competitive conditions in selecting courses of action. Prerequisites: BUSA 302, 303 or 304, 305, 308, 309, 310, and senior standing. Spring 2015, BUSA 499 Capstone: Strategic Management 2 The required textbook for this course is: Hitt, M. A., Ireland, R. D., & Hoskisson R. E. (2015). Strategic Management: Competitiveness & Globalization, 11 th edition. Cengage Learning: Stamford, CT. In addition there are electronic case materials from Harvard Business School publishing which you will have to buy directly. You are expected to keep up with all readings and cases. We may occasionally have a quiz in class. Additional readings may be assigned. Please be an “environment scanner” and keep up to date with current business issues. Expected Course Outcomes: This course is designed to develop specific abilities related to integrating your overall business learning and applying strategic management concepts. A student who successfully completes this course should exhibit the follow skills and knowledge: 1. Ability to synthesize and conceptualize ideas in a strategic context. 2. Knowledge of the functional interrelationships within the organization so as to be able to conceive of and manage their integration/dis-integration.
