For us to be able to understand ourselves, social interaction has a significant role toplay. In the year 1902, Charles Cooley created a theory which he coined as the” looking-glassself.”According to him, an individual develops his/her concept of self, based on how otherpeople view or perceive them. By having an interaction with others, people use the judgmentsthat they will get to measure their own self-concept such as worth, perspective, behavior, moraland standards. We can see clearly in this that self and society are not separate, but rather twosimilar aspects in the same phenomenon.
