Latham-1 Stuart Latham ENGL 104-571 5 November 2007 Freedom Doesn’t Come Free If you look at the world today, you see death, destruction and devastation all over from Iraq to the United States. After September 11 we have needed a select group of people, soldiers, whom suck it up and go beyond the call of duty to perform selfless service keeping us in a free nation. People, high school and college students in majority, are taking a stand against the soldiers who keep them safe at night, those that allow them to go out and enjoy watching a movie or relaxing on the couch after a “hard day”. These student anti-war groups are not getting the picture. These groups are not getting all the facts about the war from the good the soldiers are doing for the Iraqi people, why we, as a nation are over in Iraq in the first place and why it’s important to believe and fight for freedom. The media these days just like in the past has always had a liberal appeal. What you see is what you get according to the news. Our country is at war and yes there are murders and kidnappings from both sides of the opposing forces; ”An American working to improve water and food distribution in Iraq was kidnapped” (Jenkins, Williams, Williams). What the media fails to capture is what good the soldiers are doing for the Iraqi people. Just like in the quote above, an American Soldier was helping the Iraqi people by improving their conditions of living but what’s that’s what not reported instead it’s the evil of the war and how it’s tearing up our nation. The same goes as the American soldiers repairing schools or whole communities that are affected by the war, the reports
