Stephanie Warner PHS 184 LAB C Ms. Jessica Russel 2 April 2007 Lab Report #8 The practice session I observed was the Miami Varsity Women Basketball Team’s lifting practice. This practice session was held on March 28 th , 2007. It started at 1:45 pm and was in the Grove Center. The instructor was Ryan Faehnle and I watched the women’s basketball team, but I primarily focused on Laura Markwood and Stephanie Ford. The type of skills that were practiced were stretches and various lifting exercises. Lifting and would then be classified as a gross, self-paced, serial, closed motor skill. This is because lifting involves many of the major muscle groups. Each individual does the lift themselves so it is self-paced. The different lifts have certain orders to them that you have to do in order to complete the lift correctly. It is closed because when a person is lifting they are performing under consistent conditions. There were many different instructional techniques used in this practice session.
