Stephanie Warner PHS 184 A Dr. Rack 16 February 2007 Snow Day Assignment 1. Arousal is the level of activation of the central nervous system. It varies from extremely low levels during sleep to extremely high levels during intense physical activity and excitement. 2. Anxiety is a person’s uneasiness of distress about future uncertainties. It is a perception of threat to the self, and it often characterized by elevation arousal levels. 3. People normally feel aroused for things that have nothing to do with stress. Different things that can make people aroused are moving from a sitting to a standing position, attending a friend’s wedding, and seeing a beautiful sunset. People normally feel anxious when something stressful is going on. When people’s anxiety level goes up there arousal level will go up to. Some things that make me feel anxious are big exams, having to give a speech, or a big race in rowing. 4. One recreations activity that I participate regularly in is the Miami Crew Team.
