Stephanie Warner Butzer PHL 101 A 29 March 2007 How I Know What is Moral Morality is a system of behavior in regards to standards of right or wrong behavior. It describes principles that govern our behavior. It is used descriptively to refer to a code of conduct put forward by a society or, some other group, such as a religion, or accepted by an individual for his/her own behavior or used normatively to refer to a code of conduct that, given specified conditions, would be put forward by all rational people. It is not something that belongs to only religious doctrine because everyone in society has somewhat of a moral code. Without morality society would not function as a whole for very long. Beliefs are critical to our moral behavior though. This is how I know what is moral. It is a gut feeling a person has inside of them when they are forced with a decision that crosses their values. The values and principles that determine for me what is moral are based off of my beliefs about they way society should be. For example, in high school
