Business process redesign is  the critical analysis and radical redesign of existing business processes to achieve  breakthrough improvements in performance measures   Business Process Management - An enterprise-wide set of activities which organizations can perform to either optimize  their business processes or adapt them to new organizational needs -focuses not on a single business process, but all of them across an enterprise What are the activities of Business Process Management? -3 activities: process design, process execution, process monitoring What is business process outsourcing? BPO is the leveraging of technology or specialist process vendors to provide and manage an organization's critical and/or  non-critical enterprise processes 2 types:  1. Back office – purchasing, payroll 2. Front office – customer service, marketing, tech support When should business processes be outsourced? Usually done for cost reasons – cheaper to outsource What is a service? An Enterprise Service Bus? Service Oriented Architecture? Service - A (software) component with distinct functional meaning and value for its consumer/client  encapsulated and  exposed through an interface, and specified by a contract that defines its purpose, functionality, constraints and usage SOA - A framework supporting the discovery, message exchange and integration of  loosely-coupled  services, using  industry standards Enterprise Service Bus - An architecture approach of using industry-standard specifications to create loosely coupled  architectures based on interfaces and flexible programming requirements.  What are the drivers for Service Oriented Architecture? What are different types of business process schemas?
