These occupations have acquired a stereotype that they are men’s jobs, and that women are not capable of handling this type of work. People think this is the way it should be because it has always been that way. Is there still these biases today about women in math, science, and engineering? Has there been any change from the achievements of women in the past to women in the present day in the Science, Math, and Engineering field? Although many would say that there is a drastic change, I on the other hand only see a few small differences. Ever since the dawn of age, women were taught to be inferior to men. They were to domestic skills to attract wealthy husbands for marriage (2 Fara, Patricia 2004; para. 1), while men were taught the more “important” subjects that they needed for success in the business world.
