VISUAL PHYSICS 218 LAB MEMO TO: James Maxin, Lab TA FROM: Michael Murphy DATE: February 12, 2008 SUBJECT: Lab 2: Experiment 2 The purpose of this experiment was to evaluate two-dimensional motion with a camera, which in this case was representative to a football kick. This specific experiment was set up to measure the affects of force (initial velocity) in relation to hang-time(time). Questions : How dependable are the results you acquired? Unfortunately the results acquired were very inconsistent due to the supplied marble launcher. Even when the marble was launched with the same power, hang-time and height varied. • What was the cumulative effect of parallax in your graph of motion? The cumulative effect of parallax for this experiment is very little for the projectile moved in only the vertical Y-directional and not along the X-direction. • What type of trend line should you use for the horizontal motion? Vertical?
