Gabriella Rizack Abnormal Psychology April 22, 2014 The Great Gatsby The novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about a man Nick Carraway who moves to West Egg, a wealthy part of Long Island. Nick’s neighbor is a man named Jay Gatsby. He lives in a massive mansion where he hosts over-the-top parties every Saturday night. One night Nick drives to East Egg to have dinner with his cousin Daisy and husband Tom. Nick receives his first invitation to attend one of Gatsby’s parties, where he meets Gatsby for the first time. At the party Nick discovers that his cousin Daisy and Gatsby use to be lovers. Nick then invites Daisy to have tea at his house, and does not tell her that Gatsby will be there. Gatsby and Daisy begin to rekindle their old love there and begin an affair where Daisy cheats on Tom. Later, the reader discovers that Gatsby had thrown extravagant parties for years in hopes of catching Daisy’s attention.
