IDEA and the IEP Process Essay
In this essay it will talk about what IDEA and the IEP Process and how it affects our students. An
IEP means Individuals with Disabilities Educational Act. This act was put in place so that students with
disabilities could not be discriminated against. This act was put in place to help the students that might
need the extra help and to help them focus on the places that might need the extra help or might be slower
in. This act was basically put in place to make sure all the students with IEPs or not get the proper
education they need. They need to make sure the right information is given so the proper IEP is given to
the students. “ The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes available a free
appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures
special education and related services to those children. The IDEA governs how states and public
agencies provide early intervention, special education, and related services to more than 7.5 million (as of
school year 2018-19) eligible infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities. ” (IDEA) This essay
will talk about the major comports the IEP team collaboration, and the IEP process.
