MINORITY GROUPS2Minority GroupsA minority group is a group of individuals who have been singled out from a societybecause of cultural or physical features; therefore, they receive unequal and differential treatmentthat makes them regard themselves as discrimination objects. In the world that we live in, there isan existence of a gender binary or a dichotomy of gender between what is male and what isfemale(Boundless, 2016). There is a rigid idea about what gender is. Based on this knowledge, women are considered a minority group. When we talk about women as minority group, it doesnot mean that women are less in number because there are more women in the world comparedto men. In fact, the population of women in the world is slightly higher than that of men. It isabout their status in society as subordinates to men. Therefore, we have to keep in mind thenotions of sexism, patriarchy, and misogyny.
