Civil Rights Movement – 1950 – 1960s; Reaction – 1964 –
In the military, 1994, black soldiers were sent to the back of the bus. This message
got to the department of war. This incident serves as a catalyst towards equal treatment for
blacks. The department of war demands that during a time of war, this domestic turmoil

In baseball when
signed with the Dodgers. In 1946 in
Royales, by 1947, he entered MLB and by 1948, he became the 1
black in American
League. Soon people, including columnist attended to see Robinson for the first time.
In Chicago, blacks came to see the view and they were all dressed up in church attire.
Blacks Americans took the Brooklyn Dodgers as “their team”. People were proud of Jackie
Robinson and the team. The collective responses that this is not just an isolated guy, lead to
an active engagement for blacks across the nation. Black’s Post ware expectations states
“you are not going to mess with me the way you messed with my father”. There is a
reinvigorating movement during peace-time. In Tallahassee, Florida, organizations
boycotted buses. In Louisina, TJ. Jamonson, a priest blah blah blah.
May of 1954,
Brown vs. Board of Education
broke the constitution model that was
laid out in
Plessey vs. Fergusson.
In case presented as somebody tried to enroll in a white
school. It was thus a class action. 5 people in 5 separate events who tried to enroll in a
white school. There was an enormous reaction in the black community.
saw this as an opportunity. As 5 cases representing schools in the US, it
increased the awareness. May of 1955, the Supreme court return to the case. Issued an
order that “white school districts are to move with all deliberate speed to give many in the
south a pathway to resist. At long as 1969, most of the southern states did not integrate.
The story of
, a boy from Chicago to visit family in Mississippi, stopped at
a convenience store, looked at a woman behind the counter and “Wolf Whistled”. The boy
was kidnapped, tied to cement, wrapped in barred wires, and fanned. At the trial, a 64 year
old black man who knew and has always “acted his role”, stood up and identified the
murderers. The duration of the trial took 67 minutes because the Jury wanted coke. The two
accused were found innocent, but they admitted it a month later. The Mother decided to
