Racy Lecture 2 1/16/08 -How people get into a trance -the difference between spiritism and shamanism -France Gilbert Rouget Music and Trance Collected much information about trance and the state that people go into and information from all over the world. Trying to explain how we can explain and make sense of why and how this happens. What makes it really possible to happen. He came up with some conclusions Dismissing that music, mechanically, leads to trance. There are cultural factors, factors from belief system, contextual and ritual People have to be culturally prepared for this Found that trance music can be any kind of music depending on where you go in the world Not just drums… Could be rattles… They must be in conducive, hospitable, receptive mood. Music is very familiar with the culture People just enjoy and understand from the culture.
