Piece 1: Yellowcard – Three Flights Up (2006) Piece 2: Ludwig Van Beethoven – Symphony No. 1 in C Major – Movement IV 1) The first piece of music was pleasurable to me because it took my mind off of everything going on around me and forced me to catch a glimpse of the bigger picture. This piece, as a result, helped me relax and slow down. This song was effective at reaching me emotionally. 2) A few good things about this piece were the effective use of dynamics and the playful, catchy melody. A few things that I didn’t enjoy about this work was that the pace or tempo of the music was typically very quick and it didn’t slow down much at all, and I didn’t like how it seemed to have too much repetition for my taste. During the Beethoven piece, I wasn’t as drawn into the music in order to follow where it was going. I was more relaxed after Yellowcard’s song and I felt impatient while listening to the second. Although both pieces brought pleasure, it seemed as though the first piece better allowed me to drop
