Experiment UTA-550 Lab Discussion/Conclusion Linh Ho - 106 The first objective of this experiment was to construct three simple electrochemical cells and compare the measured cell potentials to the calculated cell potentials under nonstandard conditions. The second objective was to run an electrolytic cell to plate zinc to an iron nail. This experiment worked out well since both parts resulted with success. Each of the batteries had zinc for the anode and copper for cathode. After setting up the metal strips, beakers of copper and zinc solutions and wires connected to the voltameter, I measured the cell voltage for each battery. For battery 1 with .10 M of anode solution and .10 M of cathode solution, the cell voltage was 1.026 V. For battery 2 with .001 M of anode solution and .10 M of cathode solution, the cell voltage was 1.046 V. And for battery 3 with .10 M of anode solution and .001 M of cathode solution, the cell voltage was .898 V. After calculating the theoretical cell potentials for each battery and the percent error, the percent errors were: battery 1 had 6.73%,
