L514 MULTINATIONAL VS UNILATERAL OPERATIONS2L514 Multinational vs Unilateral OperationsIn the past and recent years, multinational operations have always been used by differentnations against any perceived security threat, promoting humanitarian help, and conductingpeacekeeping operations. Multinational operations often involve two or more forces of differentcountries and who act under the structure and guidance of an international organization such asNATO, UN, and OSCE. Excellent examples of multinational operations involving the USinclude United Nations Command (UNC), allied operations in WWII, and the MultinationalForce in Beirut (The Atlantic Council, 2004). The United States National and Department ofDefense advocates for defence associations with partner nations and allies to promote nationalsecurity connections. On the other hand, unilateral operations involve the application of oneforce in different processes without the consideration of other nations’ interests.
