The problem of evil If god is all powerful all good and all knowing then why does evil exist 1)logical problem- prblm is existence of any evil at all --an all powerful all good god would have to create some suffering. Better world with some suff. Compassion and sympathy are great virtues and it’s important for people to exhibit these virtues. Only able to exhibit them if there is some suffering 2) evidential- problem is the quantity of evil that exists in the world. if there is an all powerful all good god why is there SO MUCH suffering -- real serious problem for theists is the evidential problem All powerful all good god surely would not produce a world with SO MUCH suffering in it. Think about what makes a belief reasonable Reasonableness- a matter of degree Beliefs can be more or less reasonable, a scale of reasonableness: Ex. Japan exists. I’ve never been there but there is overwhelming existence that it exists Ex. Quite reasonable. Intelligent life on other planets/ universes out there
