Module 4 Section A Grammar in any language is known as the system and structure of the language. It is a body of system that governs and allows structure to a group of words to make sense when written, spoken or read. I find that grammar could be classified as the backbone of a language and gives consistency to the language usage. Grammar provides the needed structure to organize sentence to put the meaning and implication across. Without grammar the linkage between words may not make sense, causing confusion and thus creating the scenario of miscommunication between the language users. Without it, the ability to convey ideas to their full extension will be hindered. The essential of the explicit and implicit teaching of grammar in an ESL setting have long been debated due to the various reasons. However, in my opinion grammar is part of an essential and crucial component in teaching language. Grammar should be one of the first component to be taught to learners across all purpose may it be for communication or academic. Grammar is an important component in language, it is a system that has to be taught to understand the complexity of the language and in order to have a better understanding of the language especially in the English language. Through teaching grammar, learners are able to better comprehend the manner of words’ usage and sentence structure and assists in learners ability to use the language with better accuracy. Also, teaching grammar to learners will enhance their ability to read sentences and be able to understand it implication. When teaching a particular language, grammar is crucial to ensure its learners are fully equip with the necessary system knowledge of the language to be able to advance deeper into the language with ease. Without the knowledge of grammar, learner would most likely be unable to construct accurate sentences that make sense or unable to read a sentence and understand its implication. Basically, grammar in a language is the ‘strings’ that pull the words together and give meaning to its structure. With that said, it is necessary for a teacher of English as a foreign language to have a knowledge of English grammar. As an English teacher educating learners, it's extremely necessary for the teacher to know the grammatical structure of English whether is it the conventional grammar teaching or the modern linguistic approach which goes further in to explains certain sentence structure that are not explicitly taught. It is necessary for an English teacher to have knowledge of the English grammar because the teacher should be the subject expert thus having the necessary grammar knowledge would be one of the reason also so that the teacher would not give frivolous answers and passing on misguided information to learners. It is the teacher’s responsibility to ensure quality deliverance of the language knowledge. Not forgetting the purpose of teaching the English language is
