Senar PSY 1313-02 October 29, 2007 JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT 6 I will be citing examples of these two psychological disorders: obsessive-compulsive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Meena is an intelligent nineteen year old college student, but she is failing her first period class in calculus because she is either late or absent. She is a resident student, but she gets up three hours before her class starts, hoping to get to class on time. The next three hours are spent taking a long shower followed by changing clothes repeatedly until they feel right for her. She finally packs and repacks her books until they are just right, opens her room door and prepares to walk to the main entrance of the dormitory. Once she has completed these rituals, she makes a mad dash for her calculus class and arrives when first period is almost over. She suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Tom is a thirty three year old successful office worker. He was referred by the nurse-clinician in his physician’s office. He complains of muscle tension, headaches, and lack of sleep. He worries about his job stability and feels he would be unable to get another job that paid as well. He worries about not having enough money for his family in the event he dies suddenly or is fired from his job. He has elevated blood pressure, heart palpitations, and has missed several work deadlines. Tom probably suffers from generalized anxiety disorder....
