Raymond Collins May 22, 2007 Compañia Nacional de Danza 2 The three performances by the Compañia Nacional de Danza 2 were each uniquely distinct dances that each created interesting moods for me. The first dance, Remansos , reminded me of a Renaissance ballet. The music was happy and formal sounding. The movements of the dancers created a feeling as if they were speaking to each other. They flirted by performing movements with their arms and creating shapes, and then other dancers would mimic these motions as if they were communicating. During my favorite part, the female dancer went behind a wall and held out a flower. Three men danced around, performing maneuvers that required strength and skill. I felt that these dancers were trying to impress the girl with the flower. In my culture, men are always trying to impress girls, especially here in college. This scene seemed to encompass how men try to show off to women to court them. The title Remansos also supports the Romantic feeling, as well as the Renaissance-like music and flirtatious dance movements. Jardí Tancat
