Keeley Brunner Brunner 1 Professor Williams Engl 1113 25 February 2020 Rooting Corruption Out of Government Oklahoma is normally looked upon as a “red state,” however Oklahoman Presidential candidate, Elizabeth Warren, is running as a Democratic candidate. In Warrens President campaign ad, she begins by describing how her family became middle class citizens and how it was easy for her to be given a second chance after she dropped out of college. Today, Warren claims that it is much more difficult for the middle class to be given second chances and opportunities, and these all start with a corrupt government. The purpose of Warrens Presidential campaign ad was to inform the middle class, her intended audience, that Warren herself knows how to “root out the corruption in the government.” Warren also promises to give back to the middle class the opportunities and second chances that she was given when she was growing up. Warren succeeds to persuade her audience that the main problem for the middle class is the “corrupt government” by giving her back story of when she was growing up, showing images of a “defenseless” middle class, and by providing shady footage of Republican leaders
