Brandon Foster KINE 321 Observation March 21, 2006 Child Observation Analysis For my observation I was able to watch an Under 6 year-old soccer game last Saturday March 18 th . The Child I observed, Brian, who’s name is only known thanks in part to his very excited parents on the sideline, is a perfect subject to be studied. I watched the first half of the soccer game and I knew that my two movement patterns would have to be running and kicking. The main reasons I chose these two movement patterns is that running and kicking are the two most critical skills needed to play soccer. I also chose to watch a soccer game because I have been a soccer player for eighteen years. I felt that this factor would allow me to classify where Brian was in relation to the steps of proficient running and kicking. Also I was hoping that my knowledge of soccer would make the direct observation easier to interpret. After reviewing the data collected from the game, I was able to make a checklist,
