PARTICIPATION IN RESEARCH The Psychology Department believes that participating in psychological research is a very important part of learning about psychology and provides an important educational benefit to students. For that reason, we require all students enrolled in our Introduction to Psychology courses to participate in 4 hours of psychological research conducted by the faculty and graduate students in the Department of Psychology. Participation in the studies can be educational and fun . There is nothing to worry about as all experiments and studies have been reviewed to ensure that they meet ethical guidelines. However, if you do not wish to participate in research, you may choose to write 4 short research papers instead. The specific requirements and instructions for completing the optional research papers are posted in Courseweb under the “Course Information” tab (be sure to read and follow them – they are specific!). You must satisfy the research requirement in order to receive a grade. Students who earn passing grades in the Introduction to Psychology courses but do not complete this requirement will receive an incomplete (G) grade at the end of the semester that will not change until the research requirement is fulfilled. How to Participate
