Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery CDA292 Dental Specialties The purpose of this assignment is to help you learn tray set-ups for extractions and how to explain oral surgery procedures to patients. Steps in this Assignment: 1. Write pre- and post-procedure oral surgery procedures for a patient on 3x5 cards. 2. Prepare tray set ups for Simple and Multiple Extractions. 3. Record the procedures as you would in a patient chart. 4. Submit this completed sheet, dialogue cards, sheet of post-operative instructions , and “tray set ups” to your instructor for a grade. This has a total point value of 140. Prepare a Simple Extraction tray set-up: Total value of 26 points 1. Use a clean sheet of 8 ½” x 11” paper as a tray. 2. Cut out and place the instruments in order of use, beginning with the first instrument to the left and working to the right: a) basic three b) perio probe c) periosteal elevator d) elevator e) pair of root tip picks f) surgical curette g) surgical aspirating tip 3. Add: 6 sterile gauze, 1 cotton-tipped applicator, pack of 8 sterile gauze for the patient. 4. Label the paper “tray” with your name and “Ext .” Prepare a Multiple Extraction tray set-up: Total value of 60 points 1. Use a clean sheet of 8 ½” x 11” paper as a tray. 2.
