Ronald Reagan was questioned “Hollywood Ten”= didn’t cooperate and were put in jail Truman’s Loyalty Probes o Federal Employee Loyalty Program If you work for the federal government, your file was reviewed. Anything suspicious was questioned by the FBI. School records, personal: homosexuals, debt, jobs Hiss Trial o Alger Hiss (former high ranking employee) was accused by Whittaker Chambers for passing information to the Soviets. o Convicted of perjury and sent to jail. Rosenburg Trial o Ethel and Julius Rosenburg were members of the Communist Party who were thought to have leaked bomb information to the Soviets o Convicted and tried together; executed in 1953 McCarthy o “McCarthyism”
