Jamie Alcorn Alcorn 1 Professor Bonnie Corman PhD English 120 Citation Exercise 3/19/2008 Sex Norms and how their emphasis on change over time. As American's we have taken the catch-phrase "The Land of the Free" all too literally and are now reaping what we have sown. Since the sexual revolution our society has thrown all morals out the window and created new norms for any and all sexual behavior. No longer is sex before marriage considered to be socially unacceptable but rather just an everyday occurrence amongst teens in the U.S. today. Due to this change in our state of being sexually transmitted diseases are now acquired more often than not and the rate of abortion and underage pregnancy have skyrocketed. We are now faced with the harsh reality that our methods in attempt to stop this phenomenon are no longer cutting it and the only cure is to stop the problem before it can start. (Beach 1) One of the methods Sally Beach speaks of is through the education being taught on campuses all over the U.S. They are teaching the method of “practicing safe sex”
