Evolution of Reading My journey through the realm of reading began about fifteen years ago when I first learned to read. Initially, I was never a strong reader as I always sought help from my mother or father. To increase my reading level, my parents would always read me a nighttime book from my Dr. Seuss collection everyday. I was infatuated with Dr. Seuss books, especially The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs in Ham . When I left Kindergarten to go to my first elementary school, my reading interests expanded, specifically to books related to my favorite television shows. I began reading Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and my favorite at the time, Power Rangers. Reading soon became instinctive and a regular hobby. Eventually I grew out of children’s stories and began reading beginner level chapter books. In the forth and fifth grade, we had bi-monthly reading competitions where my classmates and I would compete to see who could read the most books in a month. After completing each book, we would write down the title and author’s name on
