Critical Thinking- The Cheat Synopsis- The movie follows the life of Edith Hardy, who with her husband, the young broker Richard Hardy, is enjoying the upper class life style. Edith decides to speculate with the money of the charity fund of which she is member, but the bet goes sour and she decides as a last resort to borrow money from the ivory trader Araku. Her husband writes her a check to cover her debt, but Araku does not accept the payment and the situation escalates to Edith shooting Araku and leaving the crime zone while her husband takes the blame. Character- The main hero of the movie is Edith Hardy, who is enjoying a life of which most people can only dream, but at the same time it is not enough for her. Edith Hardy wants more and struggles to live with her husband's request to temporarily to halt her luxurious consumption. She embezzles money from her charity organization with the hope that a speculative investment will help her fund her desired life style.
