1. On July 5, 2002, President George Bush warns the members of the UN that Iraq presents a problem that the UN must address immediately; George Bush states that the US will act on it regardless. By October 2, 2002, the US Congress passes a resolution that gives the president authority to use the military in order to address problems in Iraq. The act of US continuously intervening in foreign affairs defines the US as a country with a concern for entirety of the human population and not only itself. The US is seen as a world power that uses its power to bring peace rather than tyranny. 2. BJ Novak, One More Thing , Published February 4, 2014 a) The novel, One More Thing, includes a myriad of short stories that bring both truth as well as entertainment. Written by the American actor and comedian, BJ Novak, One More Thing, describes common human issues such as love or fear, but altogether the novel consistently holds to a playful, humorous tone. The

The continuous playful tone re³ects the American desire for fun and excitement. Entertainment plays a key role in America’s society and BJ Novak retains that idea and uses it to his advantage in this novel, bringing about absurd stories like a robot falling in love with a man or a child ±nding his father through winning a contest hosted by a cereal company. c) The novel is intended for young adults (eighteen) and older because it aims to not only bring pure enjoyment but tackle some human related issues.
