Telepresent Music Improvisation • What is it? – Live Music Collaboration over the Internet – Online Music Jamming • WHY NOT JUST CALL IT THAT? – Because “telepresence” describes a co-located experience w/distant people Telepresent Music Improvisation • Online music improvisation practice is informed by offline experience • Telemusicians bring their cultural influences and behaviors with them online • Telemusicians play the same instruments online as they do offline, i.e. guitarists played guitars, singers used microphones, and DJ-oriented players rapped and/or used turntables.
