Jaimy Reynolds9/8/2021PYS121Assignment 4Neuroimaging is a relatively new practice in the field of neuroscience that allows us to see brain activityin real time to diagnose neurologic diseases and advance our understanding of how said disease affectthe brain through 3D imaging. Neuroimaging allows us to see how different regions of the braincommunicate in association with neurotransmitters that affect these different regions, however thebrain is complex, and neuroimaging alone cannot offer all the answers. That being said, neuroimaging isespecially useful in a variety of situations such as a social cognitive neuroscientist capturing positive ornegative emotional responses to ourselves and others, or a neurologist examining a brain for amyloidplagues to diagnose Alzheimers. There are multiple different neuroimaging tools being put into usetoday, the most prominent being functional magnetic resonance imaging or FMRI.
