This quarter in WRD 104, I have changed not just as a writer, but as a person. Through the readings, I have found a couple of new role models and favorite authors including Ben Carson, William Damon, and Amy Chua. I have been inspired by their stories and findings and hope that one day I too will be a role model to others. Throughout my journey writing the Major Writing Project, I realized that writing research papers are not my strong point, but I definitely have improved due to this course. My topic was who and what is the reason for success in young adults, mainly focusing on parenting. What jump-started my interest was the book, Path to Purpose , by William Damon. He brought up the question, “Why are children today lacking motivation and why are they not as successful as previous generations? (Damon 28) “I felt as though I had a connection to the topic because I am a part of the generation and so are my friends. I see both sides of the point. I in turn, feel as though I’m a part of the generation that has a purpose and my friends do also.
