MISTAKEN IDENTITY 2 Week 4 discussion 2 In Sharon’s story of mistaken identity there is conflict between kali and the society. The society here is her family and the spiritual values and morals they carry. Kali is a lesbian, something that is prohibited in her Indian community. Though she loves herself that much and the way she is, even her brother Rashid does not know her true identity. Kali though understands herself, cannot tell her family openly about her personality because she will be banned from even seeing her nieces; Rashid’s children. Mistaken identity uses the family to portray how the Indian society would treat a lesbian.
