The power to network multiple computers together via the Internet is a powerful concept that has revolutionized modern businesses’ ways of thinking. Whereas before, information shared between corporate offices would need to be physically delivered, it is now possible to run a myriad of satellite offices all linked to the central server of the main office. The core office can remain at the site of the original founding location with satellite offices springing up based on location needs across the country. With the advent of the Internet, a number of powerful file sharing options came into play allowing for both telecommunication and for an intricate network between offices in different states. Whereas previously, the only method of transferring data from one computer to another involved making a physical backup – a proceed exceedingly difficult if the data must travel long distances such as to another state – the establishment of a global network has allowed for both faster and more reliable methods of transferring data between offices. The economy has shifted to one of global and nationwide proportions.
