LEADERSHIP STYLE 2 Proponents have come up with various definitions of leadership based on democratic ideologies. Its domains are based on facts and arguments that are an open style of engaging or running a team based on their ideas, free expression, and participation in the team. However, they provide overview of the kind of environment in which it should be practiced and the nature of the group. It is defined as facilitation and empowerment of the conversation, encouraging the subjects to bring out their ideologies, and synthesis of the gathered information, analysis and integration into a decision making process (Bonnici, 2011). The decision arrived at is in consideration to collected facts and ideas and official communication on decision made is addressed to the group. It is also defined as the leadership style that provide room for the participatory decision-making process while focusing on group equality, generation of ideas, free expressions of opinions and control (Adeniyi, 2007). The Democratic leader acts as per the accepted decisions past by the group and focuses on achieving the set objectives. However, the decisions are made by the group; the Democratic leader has the last final say and conclusion. The leader must pose outstanding qualities such as honesty, creativity, courage, competence, fairness, intelligence and goal oriented to be successful in carrying out the leadership roles (Kanter, 2001). The major components are the flexibility of the leader, commitment mobilization, freedom of expression and participation in decision making, delegation as a mechanism to accentuate support from the group members, and transformation. The entire group members participate and are liable to the decisions made, the subjects retain the ability to elect. Choose the individual they would wish to lead them based on the majority rule and the rights and freedom of the minority are also integrated and cared for in the democratic leadership style.
