Sarah Shelden LAI 350 – Introduction to Education Observation Paper 5 In an eleventh grade history class, I had the opportunity to watch a presentation given by two guidance counselors. They began the class by passing out a college magazine and asking who had started their college search. The counselors ask where people have stated looking; online, college fair, specific websites. They suggest that other students do the same, and offer a few sources that they have found useful over time. They discuss their establishment of a field trip to a college fair, and encourage anyone who is slightly interested, to sign up and come. Another major topic is that of the SAT. They make a point to discuss what it is, and why anyone should take it. They outline how colleges use it as a means of judging applications. Also how it is scored, the basic outline, and time frame is addressed. They go step by step about how one signs up for the SAT and the different resources available for study.
