Sarah Shelden LAI 350 – Introduction to Education Observation Paper 10 In a seventh grade English class the teacher passes out a contest in which the students have to determine which childhood pictures correspond to their various teachers. He takes attendance, giving students time to talk and settle down. He requests that students put the contest papers away, as they are to be worked on later, not in class. It takes repetition of the directions twice before students comply. The lesson is based of a handout he passes around which is a list of commonly used prepositions. The teacher reads thought the hand out without asking questions, simply explaining the examples that are listed. He then passes out an assignment and gives the students time to work independently. The student teacher walks around asking students if they have problems and frequently explained a way of determining prepositions. The teacher then reviews the worksheet, asking students for their answers. If someone answers incorrectly he
