September 28, 2007 Sociology 110 Upon moving in this year one meets new people, people that they are going to see every day, floor mates. Through interaction one is able to gain a sense of where a person is coming from and what a person is about. After formalities are exchange and some small talk is made one feels like they can start to be more at ease with an individual and start to treat them as a friend. I have misconstrued the level of friendship and felt like I could make comments that one wouldn’t say around someone that was not a friend. Continuing the Billiard ball metaphor from the reading, the conversations were the driving force moving our friendship forward, internally we were starting to accept each other, but my joke was misconstrued to be a serious comment rather than a joke; therefore, a changed happened internally and caused the balls to move apart rather than moving together. If we were originally moving together because of the top spin placed upon the cue ball, my joke caused my cue to strike the ball lower causing back spin. In
